Melissa, I enjoy your newsletter so much, and wish we were sitting at a coffee shop exchanging wee comforts in person (I'm not a stalker, I promise). I don't think I've ever not loved something you've recommended that initially appealed to me. So buckle up, I have Thoughts about this week's Wee Comforts.

I already had Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter on my TBR list and I'm 31st in line for it at my library. Can I wait that long to read it? Time will tell.

I loved Water Moon and will now add The Elsewhere Express immediately to my TBR--it sounds (and looks) divine. Such a beautiful book design I'm tempted to buy it. We moved to a much smaller home last year with no bookcases (sob). We've added several, but I still have limited space for books, so I have to be thoughtful about which ones I buy and keep lest they overrun the house. I'm choosing to see this as a challenge, not a hardship. Plus I could always figure out a way to squeeze in more books if I really had to ;)

I laughed at the portrait and your thoughts about it--her face perfectly reflects how I feel most of the time right now.

You are the third person to rave aout The Pitt this week, so I am taking it as a sign I need to start watching it. I did like ER, and I like Noah Wylie as an actor, so I expect I'll like this. If I can take it emotionally.

I will probably watch the Netflix P & P, though I'm not holding out much hope for it being a favorite. I am Feeling Old and Curmudgeonly about yet another adaptation, though I should probably feel happy that younger generations may discover Jane Austen's wonderful work this way.

And finally, to offer you a comfort in return, I am two-thirds of the way through The Belle of Belgrave Square (Mimi Matthews), and it is A Delight. Such a sweet and romantic story so far.

Did I hear MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE, my absolute favorite historical romance trope?? Sprints to go find, thank you so much!!! If you are a Noah Wylie fan you will looooooooove him in The Pitt. the medical stuff is intense and I think their budget INCREASED for the second season and they are going to SHOW AND TELL by way of the insides of the human body. !!!!!!!!!!! But it really is one the best shows I've ever seen.

I hear you about book storage....I'm maxed out and have resorted to stacks everywhere. I'm really hoping to cut down on the physical books and get them loaded onto my new reading tablet I got for my birthday but then publishers gotta get sneaky and put WEE TRAIN CASES on the edges of a book? UNKIND.

Thank you so much Kathy for your lovely note, it really made my day. I haven't been too lucky finding a lot of like minded friends in real life who share my interests, which is one reason I really treasure the kindred spirits I've met online! I know we would all have THE BEST TIME on a book travel retreat!

Your comments on that portrait in the Cotswolds cottage had me truly laughing out loud. I might google lens it to see if can find a wee copy of it to hang on my fridge.

I have given up on all medical dramas because they trigger my hypochondria, but everyone loves the Pitt. I will have to miss out.

I want to continue watching All Creatures, but my insane dog barks and growls and charges the TV every time an animal is on screen. I could watch it on my laptop, but I never enjoy viewing things that way. I started watching Grantchester on Netflix and at the end of very first episode he gets a dog, which was not a happy development for my viewing pleasure! At least the dog only makes a token appearance once per episode.

Agnes Aubert's Mystical Cat Shelter looks intriguing. I'm thinking it might be a good audiobook, and then if I love it, I will buy that beautiful hardcover.

The Pitt IS very stressful! But there's PLENTY of other telly to watch! My little dog freaks out and growls at all of the animals on All Creatures as well, it's HILARIOUS. Everything makes her mad, horses, dogs, goats, you name it, she hates it lol.

I have been waiting for months for that new novel from Heather Fawcett and I can't wait to finally read it (hopefully this weekend now that the Lunar New Year festivities have ended)! And that special edition of ‘Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Faeries’ is so tempting T_T 'Water Moon' is sitting on my shelf - It's on my TBR list but that new novel is very beautiful as well! Ah so much temptations, so little time! You must write about them once you finish them!

Those illustrations inside the Emily Wild are EXACTLY how I pictured them in my brain— love when that happens.

And yes that painting is marvelous, the accuracy!!

My jaw dropped when I saw that this creation was coming down the pike. I'm ABSOLUTELY going for it! It occurs to me this might be the earliest I've ever put something on my holiday wish list lol
